15When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.

14.  Call to Constitutional Convention, to "ordain and establish this Constitution", two paragraphs, first and last, alpha and omega.

Impossible to govern rightly without God and the Bible.
first duty is fervent supplication
- this infant nation, conceived, birthed and bathed in prayer
Religion and Morality are indispensable supports (Farewell Address)...
May 10, a.d. 1789 in a letter to the United Baptist Churches of Virginia, Washington stated:
"If I could have entertained the slightest apprehension that the Constitution framed by the convention, where I had the honor to preside, might possibly endanger the religious rights of any ecclesiastical Society, certainly I would never have placed my signature to it;
"...I beg you will be persuaded that no one could be more zealous than myself to establish effectual barriers against every species of religious persecution..."

Psalm 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish, but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.  The Supreme Law of the Land is this His Constitution for the United States of America.  Article III uses a lower case s for supreme Court, whereas in the Declaration of Independence the upper case S is used for the Supreme Judge of the world.

Important are small details like a small s in supreme Court and a Capital S for God as the Supreme Judge.

TRANSITION

My connection to this Constitution is when I was a boy of 10 a man from church told me to read this Constitution, and I did.  The man became my mentor, Ralph McGill, a Pulitzer Prize winning editorial writer who wrote against Segregation in the South, wrote a book called "The South and the Southerner" and was called the "Conscience of the South".

I was in church in part because my Mother took me, but more because I was a "Self-Made Man".  A man named Conrad Self who wrote Spiritual Poetry.  One verse I always remember is, "Why do you worry, why do you fear?  Call on your master, He is always near".

As a 5 year old I would play on the piano "When you walk through a storm hold your head up high and don't be afraid of the dark".  Mr. Self gave out little pocket sized books of his poetry told me that Jesus loved even me, and planted the seed of ministry in my mind when I was 7 years old in Orlando, months after three times in first grade I tried to kill myself thinking I was the cause of my parents divorce.

But God had a purpose for my life so did not allow my misguided efforts to succeed.
For his editorials, as thanks McGill had drive-by shootings at his home on Roswell Road north of Buckhead in Atlanta, crosses burned in his yard, and the worst insult, being shunned from fellowship at his church during "fellowship time" after services.
I saw him standing alone, but did not go right up to talk with him.  I went home and "did my homework" I read his editorials the next week.  The next week I went up to him and asked "Are you Mr. McGill?"  He acknowledge he was.  I then asked him about his editorial on Wednesday.

As a man now nearing his age at the time, I know what great joy I have when a young boy or girl asks me about what I have written based on the fact they have done the work to read it.  I know that if just one boy cared and learned, all the other people in the church could continue to give me the cold shoulder, for as Jesus said, "For this one I have come."  That one is God's Will, GW, for me to be doing.

I learned from a Biography that McGill witnessed the Austrians voting away their written constitution for the promises of the new government, the Nazis.
Later that same year of age 10, I went to Newport Rhode Island and sang in the Boys' Choir, and was paid $3, which makes me a professional singer, and also gives some measure of how professional...

Yet answering the call of "still small voices within me", I used those 3 GW dollars to buy a bottle of silver polish and go to the box pew in the church to shine the silver plaque that told that George Washington had prayed in that place.  I gave the bottle and the rest of the 3 GW dollars to the rector to "maintain the pew", such an act of philanthropy!

I then did not do anything for George Washington for nearly 30 years, I did not even read a biography of him.  Not until the Baptist church in Alexandria had a Events Ministry to the George Washington Birthday Parade that I worked on the Evangelism and Outreach Committees did I begin to learn any thing substantial about George Washington.

Someone mentioned the George Washington Prayer, and a number of prayers.  I began to search for them, and could not find a copy of a book "George Washington the Christian" in the Martha Washington Library 100 yards from my home, or the Mount Vernon regional library, or the entire  City of Alexandria or Fairfax County library systems, the largest in Virginia.  So I went across the Potomac to the Library of Congress, and could not find the book there.  So I went to Princeton and found the book.  I was transfixed by the power and passion of the penned prayers of George Washington written when he was a young man of 20.  I then and there accepted the calling of God to tell all of America about these GW Prayers.

In addition to that wonderful little book the prayers are found in the 32 pages on George Washington in America's God and Country Encyclopedia of Quotations by my great friend William Federer.  His book is next to the Holy Bible one that every American family should have in their library or on their bedside table.

I then tried to find a picture of George Washington kneeling in prayer, and so called Mount Vernon, where a decade ago they answered, "Oh no, that story is a myth."  Alarm bells went off in my mind.

I found that President Reagan in a.d. 1982 said...

Then on the Thursday before Mothers' Day Mount Vernon wrote a terrible article about the domineering Mother of George Washington, and that same day I had a letter to the Editor, and many DAR and Ladies Garden Clubs called me.   I gave them copies of my letter, which had NOT been published, and encouraged them to all write their own letters.  After a deluge of letters from ladies, the next week half of my letter was published where it was seen by a friend who was an Aide to Governor Gilmore, who soon thereafter called to ask if I would be interested in an appointment to the Board of Visitors to Mount Vernon.

I then did a George Washington Book Festival broadcast by C-SPAN, with several time kneeling in prayer during the all day program and with the Appeal to Heaven flag, and two big banners of GW in prayer as the backdrop.

Then to do as the Bible says to "Pray on the Land" ...All Across America..
God wove all those threads together.

And a decade after the George Washington prayers were re-discovered and publicized, there are 6 new books in the past 18 months on the Christian faith of George Washington.

Seminar on sharing History to share His Story

The links below if activated by you will take you to the Google Video page for these videos of the seminar of Rev. Bruce Revell and "Minister Manship" on Tuesday, 27 November a.d. 2007 at the Dunes Manor Hotel, Ocean City, Maryland at the National Resort Ministers Conference in conjunction with the Georgia based North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.

OOPS! It appears in the journey (with Jesus) from Mount Vernon to Ocean City, the external hard drive did not fare well on the journey and so is not now working, so... that means no hard drive space to edit the video, and possible loss of many other videos and documents stored on that hard drive. Ahh, the joys of technology! and the rigors of travel... (Good News... the drive is working again...).

Weeks later after Christmas, back in Mount Vernon, the hard drive is again working, and so the videos have been edited and posted to the free video streaming service of Google (can't argue with the price!).

"never die" verse Video link

4 min 8 sec - Nov 22, 2007

Description: Be well versed as was Washington. George Washington often spoke of Divine Providence. An Indian Chief who shot at GW 17 times later said that warrior will never die in battle. GW agreed and explained how that could be true...., this Video adds the Verse that provides the explanation.

From Google Video comes the above video from a Divine Providence, Divine Mercy conference in the historic resort town of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia the week before the Resort Ministry Conference in Ocean City, Maryland.
